From a
high school star of winning all county pitcher two years in a role, to being a
freshman and a big baseball college, pitcher Nolan Santos. Santos is now a
starter at Bethune- Cookman and is still playing the game that he loves. When
asked when he knew this was the dream, he answered that “I always had a love
for the game”.
Nolan Santos
in high school was one of the best and his accomplishments show that. In high
school, people would have thought that he had more options for college but Santos
told us that he “received two offers, one from a D2 school and then Bethune”.
Santos had a decision to make and some would say an easy one since Bethune is a
Division 1 baseball school. But choosing the school was the easy part for him.
Handling
the studies and playing baseball was the hard part. When asked how he handles
both, he states, “It is very hard but you tend to get used to it”. He even said
it feels like “two lives trying to be one”. Even though Santos says it is
difficult, you cannot see it when he is on the field. He seems to shine every time
he is out there. But Santos also has his supporters, his parents and his two
best friends. When Nolan Santos is describing his friends he states that he “has
known them since they were young and we played together all through high school.
They are my biggest supporters”.
When
looking back at high school, Nolan Santos sees it as the best time of his life
and when asked what his favorite moment was, people would be surprised with it.
Santos states that the best moment was “My tenth grade year and we were playing
our rival School Coral Gables and I hit the walk off hit to win the game”. That
moment for him was one of the best because everyone knew he could pitch but
that hit changed his confident level.
Nolan
now will experience his college life and hopefully fulfill his dream. When
asked what his dreams are, he stated “The dream is to get drafted and end up
playing Major League baseball.” Santos has a big life ahead of him and him I someone
everyone should go out and watch.
